A province-wide craft and product development programme transforming Indigenous Knowledge Systems into contemporary, market-ready design.
Heritage Re-Imagined brought together master crafters from across Mpumalanga to explore how traditional skills could be reinterpreted for modern contexts. Rooted in Indigenous Knowledge Systems, the programme blended heritage techniques with contemporary design thinking, functionality, and market relevance.

Province-wide showcase of market-ready work
Participants worked across disciplines — from beadwork and weaving to wood, stone, printing, and mixed media — expanding their creative range while maintaining cultural integrity. The focus was not preservation alone, but evolution: turning skill into opportunity.
Crafters gained new techniques, confidence, and commercial awareness. Traditional practices were not diluted, but strengthened — reintroduced as viable contemporary products with cultural depth and economic value. Many participants expanded their ranges, entered new markets, and reimagined their futures as creative entrepreneurs.
