The Gogo Mahlangu Legacy Project Celebration marked a milestone in South African art and culture, celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Esther Mahlangu — a global icon of Ndebele artistry.

Facilitated by Art Aid PTY (LTD), the initiative brought together six master Ndebele mural painters and 90 schoolchildren from the Dr JS Maroka and Thembisile Hani Municipalities to create 90 hand-painted canvases. Each piece represented a bridge between generations — a living embodiment of Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) shared through mentorship, storytelling, and design.

A new generation of young artists connected to their heritage through hands-on mentorship, ensuring that Ndebele art remains alive, relevant, and evolving.
